The Chicken Almanac is a small independent publication about chickens. We write about their biology, their behaviour, their surprisingly deep history alongside humans, and — because the two turned out to share an audience — the arcade games Chicken Road and Chicken Road 2 that borrowed the bird's most famous joke.
What we publish
- Researched explainers on chicken cognition, genetics, embryology and domestication.
- Breed profiles aimed at curious readers and first-time keepers.
- Editorial coverage, guides and strategy notes for casual arcade games in the Chicken Road family.
- A short weekly newsletter with one fact, one breed and one game note.
What we do not do
We do not sell chickens, feed, equipment or any physical product. We do not operate, host or distribute any game. We do not offer gambling, betting, wagering, deposits or real-money play of any kind, and we do not link to services that do. Everything on this site is editorial and informational.
How we are funded
The site is free to read and funded by display advertising, including advertising delivered through Google's advertising products, and by an optional newsletter. Advertising never influences our editorial content, and advertisers do not receive advance review of anything we publish. Where a piece of content is sponsored or contains an affiliate link, it is labelled clearly at the top of that page. As of the last update to this page, no content on the site is sponsored.
How we check facts
Claims about chicken biology and behaviour on this site are drawn from peer-reviewed ethology, veterinary science, archaeology and genetics literature, and from institutional sources such as university animal-science departments and the FAO. Where a finding is contested or preliminary we say so in the text rather than presenting it as settled.
Coverage of Chicken Road and Chicken Road 2 is based on hands-on play and describes mechanics, design and strategy. It is our own commentary and analysis, published independently.

If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. Email corrections@optinrouteoravex.org with the page and the specific claim, and we will review it. Substantive corrections are noted at the foot of the affected page with the date.
